History
The first experimentations on the project began in the end of 1995. At the time the plan was to build a simple weather
station with analog displays. The first sensors were donated by Vaisala Oy during 1996. In the end of 1998 the decision was made to make the weather station computer-based and after that there have been 6 hardware revisions before the current version.
Technical details
The system is based on a Atmel AVR -microcontroller and a PC-computer, which perform the measurements and convert the data from the sensors to text. After this the data is read by the server via network. vantaaweather.info is a virtual server running on Dimmercity Light & Sound Oy's www-server.
